It is awkward for a pastor to tell the congregation to love on them. It’s like my wife reminding me of the upcoming anniversary. It is less meaningful to have to ask for it. However, it is not less meaningful than if it is forgotten or omitted. I’ll never forget the time the whole family forgot my mom’s birthday. Mom was the one that brought it up. I felt lower than a worm.
That being said, here’s your reminder:

“Therefore, show them proof before the churches of your love and of our boasting about you.”

I am the new guy so it is a little less awkward for me to make mention of this, but love on your pastors. There is little that is more effective at growing a church than positive word of mouth. There is little that is more effective at hurting a church than talking bad about a church or pastor’s reputation in the community.
